Made in Emsdetten since 1972

markilux was founded in June 1972 in Emsdetten in northwest Germany and is still a family business, now in its fourth generation. Its engineers try every new idea in their own test laboratory, and more than 1.5 million markilux awnings have been sold since the first one.

Fully open

The MX-4 opens in one smooth movement.

A slim cassette on the wall gives you up to 11 ft 6 in (350 cm) of shade.

  1. Closed: When it's retracted, the cassette closes completely around the cover and the technology, so wind and weather stay outside.
  2. Opening: With the optional motor, one press on the remote opens the cassette and the folding arms begin to swing out.
  3. Unfolding: The folding arms straighten as the cream cover travels out of the cassette.
  4. Extended: Fully open, the cover reaches up to 11 ft 6 in (350 cm) from the wall across a width of up to 23 ft (700 cm).

Every detail is carefully thought through.

  1. Cassette: Encloses the cover and the arms completely when the awning is in.
  2. Roller tube and cover: The bonded cover cleans itself in the rain, as the drops carry dirt away.
  3. Motor: Lets you run the awning from a remote, a wall switch, sun and wind sensors or an app.
  4. Lateral arms: The bionic tendon of high-performance fibers lets them flex with low friction and very little noise.
  5. Front profile: Forms the outer edge of the cover and closes the cassette when the awning is in.

Every markilux awning is custom-made from carefully chosen materials, and each new model is refined in the company's own laboratory until it runs quieter and more smoothly and stands up better to the wind.

Ten fabric samples from the markilux FineLine collection fanned out in greens, greys, browns, sand and a deep red.

Choose your cover from more than 200 fabric designs.

The covers draw on almost 100 years of textile experience, longer than markilux has made awnings, and they are certified to Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and wash themselves clean in the rain. The new FineLine collection gathers ten fabrics in four color families, and if you have a color in mind, the color-on-demand service can make your cover in any of 1,625 RAL colors.

LED lines in the cassette, dimmable spots in the front profile and spotlights in the side caps of the MX-4 keep your terrace softly lit long after dark, and an infrared heater keeps it comfortable on cooler evenings.

In our customers' own words

“After the markilux 6000 was installed, I basically got a second living room. I've used the garden a lot more again, it's an extension of the living space.”

Kristina G., markilux 6000

“The awnings are the perfect addition to our garden, in addition to the fresh and beautiful design. We have also received many positive comments and are very satisfied.”
